Journey Church

Journey Church

Tuesday, December 10, 2013

Hello Journey (and others), grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave Himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to Whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

I am writing to ask for prayers concerning recent events that have taken place and are planned to occur at Clark Middle School (Bonner Springs Junior High School).  Recently a student had, apparently, put up fliers with scripture verses on them advertising a prayer group for "See you at the poles".  The student, it seems, was asked to remove all the fliers by one of the school counselors.  Saying something about separation of church and state.  The school did, however, announce the event over the intercom.  The family of the student has filed a federal lawsuit against the district, USD 204.  Our Church actually leases the space at Edwardsville Elementary from the USD 204.
On Thursday of this week, 12/12/13, the infamous Westboro Baptist Church is scheduled to picket at Clark from 2:10-3:05.  If you are unfamiliar with Westboro, you can check them out at godhatesfags.com (that just about says enough there).
God called the Journey to western Wyandotte County a few years ago, and specifically to the Bonner Springs area.
As followers of Jesus, if we do the math on the situation, this is a loose loose scenerio for the Kingdom of God.  The School will never have the favor of God if they are divided and some of them are against Jesus, and Evangelical Churches like ours get grouped in with churches like Westboro by default.  We do not agree with or condone Westboro and their mission, but we also know that if a school is standing in opposition to prayer in any way, they are standing against and not for Jesus and His Kingdom.
This is where you come in.
I am asking for you all to pray (even now) for...
- the principal of the school Rick Moulin.  Pray that God, by grace, would give him wisdom to know how to get the school on the right track with Jesus and His kingdom.  Pray that Principal Moulin would know how to respond correctly in the face of all this conflict.  Pray that he would seek the approval of God and not man.  He is in between a rock and The Rock, I do not envy his position on this one.
-pray for the people at Westboro, that they may come to repentance and salvation.  That they would seek Jesus and His Kingdom first.  That they would stop blaspheming Jesus by claiming His Name (His wonderful name), and in the same breath, spew hate and lies about God.
-pray for the parents of the students to know what to say to their children about all of this.  That the parents would not return hate for hate to the protestors.  That the parents would encourage their children to pray and participate in prayer on school grounds with other students.
-pray for the students.  Chris is one of them, they need to know how to think about all that is going on around them at this time.
-lastly, pray for me and the leaders in the Journey.  We really need to have the Holy Spirit guide us in what, if anything, we should do in response, since God has called us to this area.

Please feel free to respond by email or phone call.
